Łukasz Byrdy
Łukasz Byrdy was born on 29 June 1994 in Katowice. Łukasz is currently a student at the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, where he is studying piano under Prof. Waldemar Andrzejewski and Doctor Joanna Marcinkowska.
He is a laureate of numerous Polish and international competitions, including the 3rd “Halina Czerny-Stefańska in memoriam” International Piano Competition in Poznań (2014), as well as the 10th “Arthur Rubinstein in memoriam” International Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz (2014), in addition to competitions in Płock, Zabrze, Konin, Antonin, Szafarnia, Jelenia Góra and Warsaw. In October 2015, Łukasz participated in the 17th International Frederic Chopin Competition in Warsaw, and was able to reach the second stage.
In 2010 and 2011, he auditioned for and won a scholarship enabling him to participate in the “Morningside Music Bridge” international music classes in Calgary (Canada). In 2012, he received a full scholarship to participate in the Aspen Music Festival and School (USA) music course and festival. In 2013, he played at a Polish-Russian music festival in Moscow and the “Young Talents” series of concerts organised by the National Frederic Chopin Institute. In 2014, he was a laureate of the “Stage for the Young” Polish Pianist Competition in Słupsk, in addition to performing a recital as part of the 69th Chopin Festival in Duszniki Zdrój.
In 2015, he performed at the international EXPO in Milan for example, and the “Chopin and His Europe” and “Chopin in the Colours of Autumn” festivals. He has performed in many important cultural centres in Poland, including the National Philharmonic, the National Symphonic Orchestra of Polish Radio, the Frederic Chopin Museum in Warsaw, Duszniki Zdrój, Żelazowa Wola, the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Centre, the Silesian Philharmonic, the Opole Philharmonic, the Lower Silesia Philharmonic, and the Poznań Philharmonic.
He has received the following scholarships: Scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Poznań City Hall, the President of the Art Education Centre. He participated in courses taught by prominent teachers, including: Dang Thai Son, Tatiana Shebanova, John Perry, Kevin Kenner, Andrzej Jasiński, Krzysztof Jabłoński, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Choong Mo Kang, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Andre Laplante, Janusz Olejniczak, and Dmitri Alexeev. He plays concerts in Poland and abroad (USA, Canada, Russia, Austria, Italy, and Germany).
